The Youth Committee of St. Peter's is dedicated to providing fellowship
and fostering the growth of religious faith for the youth of St. Peter's.
The Committee coordinates the activities for AKA - "All Kids
Allowed" (6-8th Grade) and SYF- "Senior Youth Fellowship"
(9-12th Grade) youth groups, which meet regularly at St. Peters.
Activities include mission activities (e.g., Work Camps, PADS), fellowship
activities, (e.g. Pizza night, Sport Activities, Arts/Crafts, Scavenger
Hunt) and bible study/faith discussions. All youth are encouraged to
participate
Property Committee
The property committee is responsible for looking after the church
building’s physical needs. From lawn care to rooftop maintenance, our
goal is to provide and maintain a safe, inviting facility and to maintain
the beauty of the church sanctuary and church grounds.
The property committee consists of nine members and a chair person. A
property member serves a 3-year term. The property committee currently
meets on in the evening of the 2nd Monday of each month and our meetings
usually last about an hour. Our time is spent reviewing the progress of
our projects and proposing and discussing new ideas. The chairperson’s
responsibilities include leading the group and acting as the liaison
between the property committee members and the church council.
Each member who serves on the property committee contributes to create
a diverse pool of talents to draw from. While some members enjoy a “hands-on”
approach, others contribute greatly by; organizing projects, scheduling
work, or gathering information and quotes for future projects. There is
always work to be done, and a place for your particular talent.
As property chairmen, I enjoy working with the dedicated, enthusiastic
group that has volunteered their time and talent. Each member serves in
making St. Peter’s, our church home, a true house of god.

Mission
Committee
Since
its founding in 1876, St. Peter's United Church in Christ has actively
donated its time and talents to mission. Our mission program has a
long and strong tradition in love, caring and compassion for those in
need.
Recently,
St. Peter's has concentrated its efforts by participating in "hands
on" mission work within and outside our community. The fourth
Saturday of each month we provide warmth and caring to those who are
homeless within DuPage County by operating the PADS shelter in
Elmhurst. We have financially contributed to a new house
to be built in DuPage County by Habitat for Humanity and will be giving of
our labor to build the home. Two work groups have already been to
Biloxi, Mississippi this year to aid the hurricane victims through Back
Bay Mission and we have another trip planned for the first week of
February, 2007.
Through
our proposed 2007 Mission Budget, we will be continuing our historic
financial support of our mission projects which include the following:
Adult Christian Care, Bensenville Home, Chicago Christian Industrial
League, Elmhurst College, Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry, Family Shelter, Koinionia
House, Marklund Home, and United Community Concerns.
Our
Mission Committee continues to seek new means for expanding our ability to
reach out in mission. Just recently, we agreed to support a new not
for profit organization created by two life-long members called Second
Sons. Second Sons is committed to further developing a proactive
community for elder gentlemen through communal and individual
relationships.
With your help, we can extend God's love to those
who are less fortunate than ourselves.
